The Ocean House

The girls called this house the Ocean House. It is their grandparents summer home located on Peaks Island which is one of the many islands off the coast of Portland Maine. We get there via a 20 minute ferry ride. Peaks Island is a beautiful island and we enjoy it very much. The house sits on the backshore and has a spectacular view of the ocean. It is very relaxing to see and hear the waves crash onto the rocks.
One of the many things we do on the island is have fresh lobsters. Chris builds a fire right on the rocks, set up two large pots (sometimes with a little seawater) and cook the lobsters. Then after two lobsters a piece we will all sit on the deck and just relax with a drink or two. It is so the New England thing to do. :)
Peaks Island has a couple of little beaches too. The sand is a little gritty and rocky but the girls still dig thru it....they also love to explore and find little shells, sea glass, hermit crabs, and rocks. We usually bring our little collection back to grandmommy at the Ocean house.
