The weather man said that Labor Day weekend was going to be a gorgeous weekend so we decided to rent a cabin at Sebago Lake - Maine. We left Friday morning about 1030am and started to make our way up to Maine when one of the boat trailer tires started to spew out hot black oil and smoke. We pulled over and decided to drive on the shoulder of the road for about 10 miles til we got to a friends place where a mechanic checked it out... after a few squirts of the grease gun we were back in business.
We pulled into Point Sebago Resort and found it to be a great family place. It had a ton of cabins to rent, many mini sandy beaches, a play ground, a waterpark, a marina for your boat, little restaurants, a general store, a walk up ice cream place, kayak and pedal boat rentals, many adult and kid activities, etc. They even had musicals and comedy shows. It reminded me of the movie Dirty Dancing... where Jennifer Gray and her family stayed a similar type resort....but ther was no Patrick Swayze in sight. lol !
As soon as we checked in, we immediately launched the boat and drove out to see the sunset. It was a beautiful reddish orange sunset. The water was calm too. And right after the sun had set, the moon popped up. It was awesome.
The next day we headed over to the beach area. The girls and little William got to play in the water for a couple of hours. They enjoyed themselves very much. It was a warm and sunny day. Once the grandparents and family came, we went on a boat ride again and this time, Chris felt the urge to jump in... He hadnt jumped in any of the lakes we went to all summer so he said now was the time.... After drying off, we were back to the cabin for some grilling - hot dogs and hamburgers....then later that night, the girls got to toast some marshmallows for the first time. They did a pretty good job. Next time, we will try making smores.
We had a great Labor Day weekend...it was a perfect end to our summer. :)
