Red Blue Playground 8/27/09

Our local elementary has a bright red and blue playset in their play yard. They girls love it and asked to go today. I thought it was a great idea since school is still out and there are probably a hand full of days left that we can visit the playground. I loved that the playset has a ton of things to do... many slides at varying heights... a bridge, tunnels, rock climbing, balance beam, poles to slide down, etc. The girls are usually wiped out after playing... even little William enjoys the playset. :)

Let's play Candyland 8/26/09

It was game night at our house and the girls chose to play Candyland. Their favorite game so far....and they are pretty competitive. Charlotte always seems to get the double color cards...and Caitlyn always wishing to get the magic gumdrop card. They slowly but surely moved thru the Candy maze and in the end, daddy won ! The girls took it well.... but challenged their daddy to another game tomorrow night. Will there be a new champ? Stay tuned....

Seaweed everywhere !!! 8/25/09

Hurricane Bill came thru the Atlantic this past weekend....and must of pushed all of the ocean's seaweed onto our beautiful beach !!! yuck! It was everywhere and didn't smell very good either...but we manage another day at the beach. The girls weren't grossed out at all.... in fact they dragged big chunks of the seaweed everywhere. They especially loved all the tide pools.

It was very crowded at the beach...everyone was trying to get those last days of sunshine in before Fall..... Can't believe how short the summer is up here in New England. :(

Beach Plum 8/19/09

After dinner, Caitlyn claimed she was a "good" girl today and wanted to have ice cream.. "the chocolate kind, without sprinkles".... so we hopped in the car and headed to our favorite spot by the beach....the Beach Plum. They have the best gourmet ice cream...and they serve so much of it. So much that we always have to split "kiddie" cups with the girls!
We then sit on the wall having our ice cream... enjoying the warm night and watching the waves. It was the perfect dessert! :)

Liquid Planet - here we come ! 8/19/09

Yes, we went to another waterpark! Chris' hair stylist suggested this new waterpark that just opened up.... and claimed it had the best kiddie section. So to keep cool today we went Liquid Planet (I know it sounds like a bar or nightclub).
It was a great set up.... basically a large hard plastic playset in the middle of a shallow pool...what a GREAT idea !!! The playset even had spouts all over it. Other things that were cool...are the waterguns, the see saw that squirted when you went up, the little kiddie bucket swings, the water animals that you could ride..... and lots of slides. (I'm thinking they need this in Texas... they would making a million easy). It was a great time .... and handling 3 kids all by myself wasn't hard at all. :)

Clam Playground 8/18/09

Another hot humid day so we spent a few hours at the mall. I go to the Newington Fox Run Mall because its the closest and has a kid play area. The girls call it the "clam playground" because there is a giant clam with a pearl in it. It is so cute. I have taking them here for over a year and they haven't become bored with it. William has now become a little mobile so I usually sit him down by all the playboards. He is fun to watch because he is so determine to move these marbles around this maze in one of the boards. So smart....just like his daddy (and mommy). After the playground, we buy lollipops then ride the coin operated cars. Today the girls picked the NASA rocket ship....and they both rode together (couldnt believe it). We had fun couple of hours.... I even manage to get in a little shopping. :)

Great day for sprinklers ! 8/17/09

Forecast for this day was a hot one so we decided to play at the town pool sprinklers.... Its a little mini waterpark and pool.....great for the little ones.
The girls love the coil tunnel that has about 30 spouts of spray water....they get soaked every time !!! They also love the fountains too. William and I usually stand under the dragon that has water coming out of his mouth. He laughs and giggles when the water splashes his face. He is not afraid of it like the girls were when they were his age....I guess boys are different! :)

The Birthday Boy ! 8/16/09

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR WILLIAM....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOOOOOUUUUUUUU !
Because it was the same weekend as Chris' 25th high school reunion, we decide to celebrate William's 1st birthday on Peak's Island with family. We got him a Red Sox cake, balloons, party hats and horns... he loved it ! He didnt get his own piece of cake but he had cake. Just didn't want to get all that red frosting on his new "crab" outfit that Auntie Dona and Rick got him.
It was a hot day but a great day for another one of our famous lobster cookouts! As usual we had two a piece ! yum !!!
Happy Birthday little William ! Wishing you many many more to come ! We love you very much !

Introducing the Red Sox 8/12/09

Chris' company was having "family Night" at Fenway Park. We thought this would be a great time to introduce the Red Sox to the kiddos (why not the girls are now 3 and Will is about to turn 1) so we bought tickets and t-shirts. We got to Fenway Park and it was packed... People everywhere.... and food everywhere. The sausage hot dogs aroma was to die for. yum!
We got to our seats and the kiddos were all eyes on the field. I think they were amazed at how many people there were and how big the field was. Then it all changed when the popcorn man showed up. They were soon asking for popcorn every 30 seconds. We instead bought them a couple of hot dogs and a bag of peanuts....and they were content with that. They sat in their seats the whole time - no fuss. Little William sat in Chris' lap and watched the game too. He even clapped everytime the crowd clapped. It was so cute!
We left about the 7th inning.... The Red Sox winning the game.
We got in our car and headed back to New Hampshire. It was late and all were falling asleep except Caitlyn... she called out to Chris and said " Daddy - thank you for bringing me to the baseball game". It was truly priceless !!!

We have a lake in NH 8/08/09

We decided to "show off" our beautiful lake to Auntie Vanessa and Uncle Frank during their visit to New England. So we hooked up the boat, loaded the cooler, grabbed the towels and sunglasses and headed up to Lake Winnipesaukee. It was the best weekend weather so far this summer.... 85 degrees, barely any humidity. It was a perfect 10 day !!
We launched the boat at our usual spot and set off to explore the lake. There were several boats out that day...and many perople were out on their docks swimming or floating. We drove out for about an hour then anchored the boat in the middle of the lake to eat our lunch. It was truly relaxing. We then headed over to Wolfboro where we parked our boat and got some gourmet ice cream. Yum!!!
We spent the rest of the afternoon cruising around and taking in the frest air.... The mountains and homes were beautiful. The kids feel asleep on the way back... not sure if it was all the fresh air or all the sweet ice cream but they were out. Auntie Vanessa and Uncle Frank were impressed and enjoyed their first full day in New Hampshire. :)

Yankee Homecoming 07/29/09

Only in New England will you hear the words "Yankee Homecoming" ...or maybe in New York too but anyway.... a nanny in dance class told me that her town Newburyport MA was have having their annual Yankee Homecoming which included Kids Day in the park - see link: http://www.yankeehomecoming.com/index.html . So one morning I packed up all the kids and drove about 40 minutes south to Newburyport MA. Nice town.
We arrived at the Atkinson Common Park and there were so many kids already there. There were crafts, activities and games, food, drinks, facepainting, and tours of the local emergency vehicles. It was hot and the lines were long but all worth it....everything was free ! So first we stopped for food...girls got hot dogs, I got a hamburger + chips and vitamin water juices. Then we went over to get our face painted. Charlotte couldn't decide what to get so I think the lady suggested for her to get a rainbow and she did. It turned out so cute. Caitlyn was up next and she got a butterfly but she insisted it be on her arm. They made paper book markers, played with large legos, participated in a ball toss game, and walked a plank over water. It was so hot but the kids did not care....they wanted to stay longer so we did. We spent the rest of our time visiting all the emergency vehicles. The girls got to sit in the ambulance, check out the fire truck hose and the police car lights. The police car was by far their favorite... "because it is black and white, mommy". So funny!
Well it was a great event and we enjoyed ourselves very much. We definitely recommend it. We will be back next year!
