Lets go to the Zoo again... 09/24/09

The girls woke up this morning talking about the zoo.... and how they loved it and they even thanked me for taking them... I asked them if they wanted to go again...and they lit up and screamed "yes"! Since the zoo was charging only a buck for kids this month, I decided to take them again.
This time we were more focused on feeding all the animals. First we came to the duck section and there were sooooooooo many. And these ducks were not afraid of people at all. If they could eat the food out of your hand, they will. I was just afraid that they would bite so I asked the kids to throw the food on the ground. Even little William put his hand out... yikes !
We then headed over to the farm animals... Caitlyn got a kick out of feeding all the little baby goats.... she had little pellet food and she insisted on feeding them one pellet at a time. Next we went over to the deers...or what the girls called Bambi's. They were in a gated section where you could go in and feed them up close. So cute !
While walking thru the zoo, we found a path that we missed last time... And down this pathway were the black bears (cubs) moving about in their cage.... the prairie dog exhibit during feeding time...., and the black swan swimming in her little pool. It was great to go to the zoo again, we saw more this time than last time. Maybe we should start going places twice more often :)

Reading already? 09/21/09

I didnt hear a peep out of little William so I looked around for him. I found him in the kitchen turning the pages of his big sister's Diego book. Could he be reading already? He was so focused at looking at the pictures that he didnt even pay any attention to me standing over him. It was so cute !! My little boy is growing up. :)

Apple Picking 09/20/09

Its apple picking season again !!! Yay !! Today was a perfect day for apple picking so we headed out to the AppleCrest Fields for their harvest festival. When we got there, it was crowded...everyone had the same idea. There was a folk band playing, and a lot of food stands set up to serve hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, ice cream and their famous apple cider donuts. They even had a tent set up for building your own scarecrow. :)
Unfortunately we had lunch before we went so we just headed right over to the apple picking field. Took a tractor ride and got right to it.
There were rows and rows of trees of the Macintosh apples.... the perfect apple for desserts because of its sweetness. So we just picked and picked...The girls were very helpful too. They helped in getting the large round ones up high. We filled our bag quickly (a peck for $15.00) and even started eating a few apples. Delicious and crunchy !
We will be back again soon... because I want to make some delicious apple cookies, muffins and even Chris' famous apple crisp. yum! :)

Gator Saturday 09/19/09

Today there was a big game for the Florida Gators !! Gators vs. the Tenn Vols ! Chris got up early and got lil William dressed in his Gator shirt. Told him that they were going to watch the game together. So cute !!! They both celebrated at every touchdown !
After the Gators won... the girls wanted some daddy time... they read a few books before dinner. It was a great Saturday ! Even mommy got to go out and shop by herself. :)

York Zoo - a different kind of Zoo 09/16/09

We haven't been to the zoo this year so I decided to take the kids to the York Zoo in Maine. I thought the kids would enjoy seeing the animals and learning about them.
The girls were specifically looking for the elephants and large snakes.... and to our surprise there weren't any ! We also did not see any giraffes, rhinos,or hippos ! This is very unusual for a zoo but instead we were able to see other rare and exotic type animals... Like the a baboon with a red and white beak, a wildebeast (like the one in the animated movie The Wild), a large bird with a bright blue head, black camels (or ewes I think) and a merkat looking animal with a bat face and a raccoon tail. All very interesting !!!
The girls favorite part was feeding all the goats and deer ....and they also loved the alligators (that looked like they were smiling). The girls were yelling at them "go gators". It was sooo cute ! We had a fun day and stayed til closing.

Birthday Bagpipes 09/13/09

It was Granddaddy's 81st Birthday and we surprised him with bagpipes !!! He has always been so facinated with the bagpipes that Cassandra (Chris' sister) hired a man who has been playing it for 30+ years. He came around 4pm and started marching down the street towards the house. Granddaddy immediately noticed him and commented that there must be a wedding or something. But when there was no one else behind him and he started to come up the driveway... Granddaddy knew something was up. The bagpipes played for awhile and ended with the birthday song. Granddaddy was so surprised and really happy !!!
We then had cake and ice cream after !!! It turned out to be a GREAT Sunday afternoon !!! Sunny and Warm.... We took a walk by the ocean and the view was AWESOME !! Happy Birthday Granddaddy !!! Wishing you many many many more !!!

Mommy and American Idol 09/12/09

I had the tell the kids that mommy was going to ANOTHER concert!
We (Eleanor, my mom in law and I) went to see the American Idols of 2009! It was great concert and I was impressed on how well everyone sang ! They sang songs that they performed during the show. Their voices were awesome just like the judges said.
My favorite idol was of course, was Adam Lambert ! He came out on stage and the whole arena went WILD !!! He does an amazing performance and I hope he does well because I would like to see him again in concert.....
Cant wait til the new season starts...I love this show !!!

Tractor Playground 09/11/09

It was granddaddy's birthday party this weekend and we had to get him a gift so I decided to go to the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester. It is a great mall with lots of great specialty stores but the kids love it because of the huge playarea that they call "Tractor Playground". It has a farm theme to it complete with barn, tractor, cow and chicken coop. Very cute for little kids ! William is alot more mobile now and he is always trying to slip out of my lap !!! So as soon as we entered the playarea, he was on the ground crawling around....and the girls were immediately sitting on the green tractor driving! We stayed an hour or so and then off we went to get granddaddy's present.... all was accomplished this day !
